Ulysses

Never got through the first few pages which seemed to be all about kidneys for breakfast. Suddenly, after decades, feel the urge to attempt again.
Nailed-on midlife crisis, roight?

As I understand, you need to know about the Odyssey to make sense of it?

I've read it. It gets worse as it goes on. I would say the best bit is the first line, the next best bit is the stuff about kidneys for breakfast and the rest is a bit shit. Especially Molly's reverie at the end, in which which Joyce contrives to make an orgasm boring.

Like the Curates egg, its good in parts. The best thing about it is the use made of it by Anthony Burgess in "Earthly Powers", possibly the greatest novel of the 20th century

Apparently, some of the early editions contain misprints more serious than ‘Steeeeeeeeeephen’ for ‘Steeeeeeeeeeeephen’, and ‘Pprrpffrrppfff’ for ‘Pprrpffrrppffff’ (or is it the other way around?)
